Summary
JOB DETAILS Job title: Night Healthcare Assistant Location: Peninsula Heart Clinic, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Derriford Hospital, Derriford Road, Plymouth, PL6 8DH Reports to: General Manager & Cardiac Matron Contract: Full-time/Part-time Working pattern: variable working pattern according to the needs of the service, which may also include weekends. Hours: to be confirmed during interview Pay: £25,685.11 - £31,066.86 FTE (Band 3 to Band 4), depending on experience, plus 30% unsocial hours payment KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CLINICAL DUTIES To perform basic observations (height & weight) when indicated in accordance with the protocol and Trust policy; To perform blood pressure monitoring in accordance with the protocol and policy; To perform skin prick testing when indicated in accordance with the protocol and policy; To perform urinalysis when indicated in accordance with the protocol and policy; To perform phlebotomy procedures in accordance with the protocol and policy (additional training provided as required for this extended role); To perform saturation monitoring when indicated in accordance with the protocol and policy; To perform electrocardiogram (ECG) in accordance with standard protocols (additional training provided as required for this extended role); To perform decontamination of equipment and consulting rooms in accordance with protocol and Trust Infection control policy; To support the storage of medication in lockable fridges and carrying out daily temperature analysis; To support the management of clinical stock items and equipment to ensure that these remain available ahead of every outpatient clinic session and to escalate to management when items are missing or require replacement; To ensure the waiting room and treatment room environment are safe, clear of obstacles and reporting any hazards or faults; To work within the limits of own competence and area of responsibility and accountability; To monitor the quality of work in own area and alerts others to quality issues, reporting any errors or issues to the appropriate person; To maintain quality in own work and supervises others to do so; To ensure patient safety at all times; To contribute to own personal development and takes part in own appraisal; To support and act as a role model to more junior staff and colleagues; To contribute to the planning and implementation of activities to raise awareness of health and wellbeing (e.g., health promotion activities); To assist with patient mobility as required; To prepare drinks and food for the patients as required (food hygiene training will be given). EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES To be responsible for keeping mandatory training up to date; To attend any relevant training courses as required.
