We are seeking a reliable and professional Switchboard/Helpdesk Operator to join our busy hospital team.
Working Monday to Friday, 16:00–20:00 (including bank holidays), you will play a vital role in ensuring effective communication across the hospital by handling a high volume of calls, responding to emergencies, and supporting operational functions.
This is a fast-paced and rewarding role suited to someone who remains calm under pressure and is committed to delivering excellent service.
The Role
Answer and manage a high volume of internal and external calls in a timely and professional manner
Accurately direct calls to the appropriate departments and personnel
Respond to emergency calls and operate bleep/paging systems efficiently
Monitor alarm systems and escalate issues as required
Log and report maintenance requests using internal systems
Provide general helpdesk support and information to staff and visitors
Maintain clear and accurate records of calls and incidents
Work collaboratively with hospital departments to ensure smooth communication

Polite, professional, and helpful manner with excellent communication skills
Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, particularly in emergency situations
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Basic IT skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
