Summary
Job Description: Static Fabric TechnicianOverviewAs one of the onsite Fabric Technician, you will help maintain safe, compliant, and well‑presented high profile building in Scotland. You'll work in a dynamic environment where professionalism, reliability, and exceptional attention to detail are essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuilding Fabric Maintenance
-Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs to building fabric elements including doors, windows, floors, ceilings, fixtures etc.
-Carry out minor carpentry, plumbing, plastering, painting, and general building repairs to a consistently high standard.
-Support refurbishment works, small projects, and improvement initiatives.
Fire Door Inspections & Fire Safety
-Conduct scheduled fire door inspections in line with statutory requirements and Mitie's internal procedures.
-Identify defects, wear, or non‑compliance issues.
-Maintain accurate inspection records and escalate safety‑critical issues promptly.
-Work collaboratively with fire safety teams to uphold robust passive fire protection standards.
Compliance, Quality & Sector Standards
-Ensure all works comply with building regulations, safeguarding requirements, and health and safety legislation.
-Maintain accurate job records, inspection logs, and asset information within CAFM systems.
-Conduct routine building fabric checks, reporting hazards or maintenance needs with precision and clarity.
Client Service & Collaboration
-Represent Mitie with professionalism and a customer‑focused approach when interacting with the customer and building users.
-Communicate clearly and respectfully, providing timely updates and ensuring minimal disruption to building users.
-Work flexibly within a dynamic team, supporting colleagues during peak periods or urgent situations.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
-Proven experience in building fabric maintenance or a multi‑skilled maintenance role.
-Strong carpentry skills, particularly relating to door installation, adjustment, and repair.
-Understanding of fire door components, inspection requirements, and common compliance issues.
-Excellent attention to detail, especially in safety‑critical and safeguarding‑sensitive environments.
-Strong awareness of health and safety practices and safe working methods.
-Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and deliver consistently high standards.
-The successful applicant must successfully pass CTC security clearance
Desirable
-NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in a relevant trade (carpentry, joinery, building maintenance).
-Experience working in a facilities management environment.
-Familiarity with CAFM systems and digital reporting tools.
-Knowledge of passive fire protection and building compliance frameworks.
