We are looking to appoint a committed and resilient SEND Behaviour Teaching Assistant to work within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Halifax. This full-time role is ideal for someone with strong experience supporting students with SEND and behavioural needs.
The Role:
In this position, you will support students who may present challenging behaviour, helping them to stay engaged with their learning and develop positive coping strategies. You will need to be calm, consistent, and confident in building strong relationships with pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND
- Effectively managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour
- Supporting pupils' emotional regulation and engagement in lessons
- Assisting the teacher with classroom activities and planning
- Maintaining a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and behavioural difficulties
- Confident behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
- Patient, adaptable, and able to remain calm under pressure
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
