Summary


Would you like to work across community clinics and settings in Merton? Are you interested in developing your experience supporting children from birth to five and up to nineteen years for specific health needs?
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist with Band 5-level skills to join our Merton service. You will support children aged 0–5 with a range of phonology, language and communication needs, while also having opportunities to develop skills in areas such as dysphagia, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), speech disorders and stammering in children and young people aged 5–19, with guidance from experienced colleagues.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within Merton Community Services, collaborating with education, health and care partners to deliver high-quality, person-centred care across homes, schools and community clinics.

The role includes managing a caseload, carrying out assessments, planning interventions and delivering tailored support. A minimum of three direct contacts per day is expected, through individual or group sessions.

We are committed to ongoing professional development, offering regular supervision, training opportunities and support for both internal and external learning.

To work with increasing independence to provide assessment, diagnosis, appropriate intervention and discharge for children within the role.

To work closely with children, families and other professionals, providing advice to others regarding the clinical management to support children and young people as relevant to the post.

Maintain accountability for own professional actions and recognise own professional boundaries, seeking advice from senior colleagues as appropriate.

Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical notes in appropriate format and intervention programmes and write reports as requested in line with service, RCSLT and HCPC guidelines.

Work closely with children & young people, parents, carers and multi-disciplinary team members across Health Social Services, Education, Children’s, agreeing decision making relative to clinical management.

To work flexibly across bases, with a requirement for cross-team working.

To be accountable for own professional actions and recognize own professional boundaries seeking advice from senior colleagues as appropriate.
