Summary

THE UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL

FACULTY OF HEALTH AND LIFE SCIENCES CLINICAL DIRECTORATE,

LUB TECHNICIAN

Grade 5 £29,588 - £33,951pa

This is an exciting opportunity within the Liverpool University Biobank of the Technology, Infrastructure & Environment Directorate to help support, deliver and grow a strategically-important biobanking service for the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Biobank Technician to support the Liverpool University Biobank at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (L14 3PE). This full-time role is split between the hospital and LUB, supporting high-quality human sample collection, processing, storage and analysis for University of Liverpool researchers and external collaborators. The postholder will work with the Liverpool Aortic Biomechanics and Biochemistry Research Group (LABB) on cardiovascular research focused on aortic disease. Funded by TADCT, the role will support the development of an AortaBank.

You will support multiple ongoing studies, process and manage patient samples, maintain accurate records using LIMS, and help ensure safe, efficient laboratory operations. The role involves working with a range of laboratory techniques and equipment, supporting health and safety compliance, and contributing to the set-up of new studies.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative clinical–academic environment, with occasional out-of-hours working in line with University policies. You will report to the Senior Biobank Technician and work with the LUB Leadership Team to deliver best practice biobanking solutions that will enhance clinical research at the University.

You should be educated to BTEC Higher level (or equivalent) and have experience in a bioscience laboratory or biobank research, laboratory or related discipline. The post is available for 3 year in the first instance.
