We are seeking a dedicated Support Assistant to join our team at Derwent lodge, a supported accommodation unit for 14 vulnerable residents.

Our residents come from diverse backgrounds and may face challenges such as addictions, mental health issues, and the impacts of trauma.



About the Role

Hours are varied over a two-week rota with negotiable weekday evenings – Annualised hours also available.

Contracted Hours - Saturday 9.00am-5.00pm Week 1 & week 2 Sunday 12.00pm-9.00pm.

7.75 contracted hours plus additional annualised hours.

As a Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in fostering a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for our residents. You will build trusting relationships with residents and team members, working closely with Support Officers to plan and deliver engaging activities that develop life skills and increase confidence. You will respond to individual needs with empathy and professionalism, taking a proactive approach to managing challenges and adapting to changing circumstances. The role also involves maintaining accurate records and consistently following all safeguarding protocols.



Your focus will be on

· Assisting residents in developing essential life skills across all age groups.

· Providing emotional support and understanding to individuals who may have experienced trauma.

· Collaborating with a large, multidisciplinary team to create and implement tailored support plans.

· Encouraging independence and motivation in daily activities.

· Promoting a positive, inclusive atmosphere that prioritises well-being, growth and development.



About You:

Able to remain calm and effective under pressure
Enthusiastic and bring positivity to the role
Motivated: Driven to support residents in overcoming barriers and achieving their goals
Team Players: Comfortable working in a large, collaborative team environment
Experienced: Previous experience in supporting individuals with addictions, mental health issues, or trauma is desirable but not essential
