The hospital is a trust of 5 site baseswith intensive care departments on 2 of its larger sitesand theatres on 3 of the 5 sites.You willpredominantly bebased at theFurness General Hospitalcovering the Intensive Care Unit.You will join a department of8 Consultants withseveral Specialists,Specialty Doctorsand ACCP’s. Depending upon your clinical skills the successful candidatecouldhave the opportunity to work in main theatrescoveringmaternity,gynaecology,orthopaedicand trauma,ophthalmology and ENT while also attending our Westmorland General Hospital that focusesprimarilyon Elective Surgery.

Westmorland General Hospital islocatedon the outskirts of the popular Lakeland town of Kendal. All our hospitals are situated in areas of outstanding natural beauty, which offer superb outdoor and recreational activities close to the Lake District, an ideal base to escape large City Centre pressures.Access to good transport links allows for easy reach to many northern cities where you will find a wealth of shops, restaurants,museumsand galleries close by.
• You willparticipatein a 1:8 Senior Decision Maker Rota including prospective cover.
• You will join a team of 8 Consultants with several SpecialistsandSpecialty Doctorssupporting all general services of the hospital including a busy Accident and Emergency department, Theatres covering maternity, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic and trauma,ophthalmologyand ENT.
• On-call shifts provide non-residential cover of emergency ITU,supervising adedicated resident anaesthetist.
• Lead Assessments of the deteriorating patient for emergency admission to the Intensive Care Unit.
• Level 2 Care in place locally, treat and transfer model operates to transfer Level 3 Patients to our Royal Lancaster Infirmary Site.

• Lead the team in managing pre and post operative theatre admissions.
• Participate in clinical audit,governanceand quality improvement.
• Demonstrate evidence-based practice whereappropriate.
• Undertake andparticipatein the appraisal process and job planning.
• Satisfy the criteria for revalidation.
• Contribute to service development in areas of special interest andexpertise.
• Activelyparticipatein continuing medical education.
• Undertake personal appraisal and job-planning as part of revalidation.
• Maintain all mandatory training requirements.
