Summary
Job Title: Cleaner

Reports to: Facilities Manager
Hours: 6 hours per week
2 hours per day on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
(2 visits per day – morning and evening)
Salary: £4,196 per year (£13.45 per hour)
Contract Type: 12-month fixed-term contract (initial)
3-month probation period with 1 week’s notice on either side
Holiday entitlement is equivalent to 33 days per year (including Bank Holidays) for full-time staff and will be calculated on a pro rata basis for this role.
Job Description – Cleaner
We are looking for a reliable and responsible individual to join our team as a Cleaner at the Kyle Community Facilities. The essential community facilities provides public toilets, showers, and self-service laundry facilities, open all year round.
As Cleaner, you will play a key role in keeping these facilities clean, safe, and welcoming for locals and visitors.
This is a trusted keyholder role, working independently on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, and requires confidence in working alone and making decisions on site. Full training will be provided.
Working Pattern
Facilities are open year-round:
•April to September: 8am – 8pm
•October to March: 8am – 6pm
There are two short visits per day:
Morning Visit
• Open facilities at 8:00am
• General check and tidy
Evening Visit
• Clean facilities and lock up at closing time
• Cleaning can begin up to one hour before closing if preferred
The facilities must be opened and closed at the set times.
As keyholder, you are responsible for ensuring the building is clean and ready for opening on each of your shifts (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday), and left clean for the cleaner covering the rest of the week.
Main Duties
• Open and close the building at the required times
• Clean all areas of the building to a high standard – including toilets, showers, laundry facilities, and public areas
• Work independently as a keyholder, taking responsibility for the facilities during your shifts
• Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning checklists
• Monitor cleaning supplies and report when stock is low
• Report any maintenance issues or health and safety concerns
• Communicate with the Facilities Manager and other staff as required
• Occasionally accept deliveries or meet tradespeople on site
• Keep basic records as required
• Follow all health, safety, and hygiene procedures
Person Specification
• Extremely reliable and punctual – opening on time is essential
• Friendly and approachable – this is a public-facing role
• Confident working independently and taking responsibility
• Physically able to carry out cleaning duties and open/close a heavy gate
• Good communicator
• Previous cleaning experience is helpful but not required – full training will be provided
