Summary


The post holder will have responsibilities to deliver an environment for those who work in or use East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust services that is properly secure so that the highest standards of clinical care can be made available to patients.

The post holder will assist the Security Manager providing leadership and management in all aspects of security for the Trust, working across all sites.

Work closely with the Security Manager to provide expert knowledge,

Assist with the collection of data required to produce a monthly KPI dashboard.

Work closely with the Security Manager to ensure that appropriate security management arrangements are in place across the organisation.

Contribute to effective working relationships with other specialist advisers e.g., Estates and Facilities, Health and Safety, Fire Safety Advisors, and clinical colleagues.

Actively encourage collaborative working between both internal and external stakeholders such as the Police and contracted Security Services.

Ensure Trust security staff and external security providers are correctly licensed, and that staff are trained in the application of their tasks and duties.

Promote good relations through a process of strong leadership and ensuring robust reporting mechanisms are in place.

Ensure security Assignment Instructions and/or Local Operating Procedures (LOPs) are fit for purpose.

Ensure control room and CCTV procedures are implemented, reviewed and security staff adhere to them.

Ensure that Trust eRoster is completed, maintained and that the Security hours, annual leave requests/approval and bank shifts are recorded correctly.

Assist with investigating breaches of security and provide advice regarding improvements.

Conduct security site surveys of premises and departments

Please note, although this role is being advertised by East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, it will transfer to OneLSC a Corporate Collaboration hosted by East Lancashire Hospitals Trust on 1.11.24. There are no plans to change the location of the role.

Assist with the development and periodic reviews of Security Policies, Procedures relating to security management for the Trust, including Violence & Aggression, Security Management, Access Control, CCTV, Lone Working, Lockdown Risk Profile etc.

Plan and conduct an annual programme of security audits across all Trust assets, determining and prioritising areas at higher risk; providing advice and recommendations to increase security provision.

Produce action plans following the Security audits and take ownership of ensuring actions are carried out.

Contribute to reports for all relevant committees and groups as/when required.

Provide specialist security advice directly to Trust colleagues as required e.g., harassment/stalking incidents, personal safety.

Support staff in reporting violence, abuse, harassment incidents to the Police.

Assist with the management of the Trust Unacceptable Behaviour/Behaviour Agreement processes, liaising with senior staff in the preparation of such letters/agreements.

Assist in the management of the Trust Zero Tolerance Policy, preparation of warning and exclusion letters to patients. Ability to deal with challenges by patients.

Assist the Trust Security Manager ensuring a pro-security culture is delivered including deterrence, prevention, detection, investigation, sanctions, and redress, with emphasis on tackling violence and aggression, protection of assets, security of drugs and hazardous materials, and service user safety e.g., mother and child unit etc.

Manage, plan, and conduct security audits to provide assurance regarding its security management systems such as:

i. Ensure incident reporting is maintained and any security Datix incidents are actioned reviewed or escalated at appropriate levels.

ii. Ensure any occasions of physical Intervention are recorded on Datix.

iii. Ensure Body Worn Video Cameras are being worn and deployed when needed.

iv. Ensure Security Response Supervisors are completing all the required records and service logs.



When required to, carry out the role & duties of a Security Response Supervisors to maintain Security provision across the site(s).
