Maintenance Technician – Saw Repair

BSW Sawmills, Fort William

24/7 Shift Pattern (6am-6pm, 6pm-6am)




Working within our Engineering department, under the leadership of the Saw Shop Supervisor and Maintenance Manager you will be
responsible for the service and maintenance of the sawmill cutting edges, to specification, quality and schedule.

Specifically, some responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician – Saw Repair include:

* Repairing a wide range of sawmill saws including handsaws, band saws and circular saws.
* Replacing saw blades.
* Sharpening, Levelling and tensioning saw blades.
* Follow scheduled tool change and maintenance schedules.
* Work alongside engineering & operation teams to resolve cutting issues related to tooling.

Full Training to carry out all duties to the required standard will be provided to the successful candidate.

About you:

Already an experienced within the Timber industry or a relevant tool room, you are technically minded and enjoy practical hands-on
work. In addition, you’ll have.

* A working knowledge of machinery and mechanics.
* Technical proficiency. You will have skills in grinding, tensioning and repairing blades.
* Good computer skills.
* High level of attention to detail, to ensure accurate inspection and measurement of saw blades to ensure maintenance and
repairs meet exact specifications
* Problem solving skills. You will have the ability to diagnose faults, identify sources of wear or malfunction and design or
implement effective repairs.
* The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a busy environment.
* Safety conscious.
