Summary

Are you a compassionate, solution-focused professional dedicated to student success? The University of Glasgow is seeking a Wellbeing Officer to join the Student Success team for a 3-month temporary period.

In this vital front line role, you will be the first point of escalation for students facing a variety of wellbeing concerns. You will play a key part in safeguarding student welfare by conducting structured assessments and delivering early interventions that help students stay engaged and thrive in their academic journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Front line Resolution: Act as the primary contact for wellbeing and student-service concerns, providing informed, student-centred support.

  • Risk Assessment & Triage: Identify risk indicators in presenting issues and determine appropriate next steps, escalating complex or high-risk situations to specialist teams when necessary.

  • Solution-Focused Intervention: Help students manage personal, academic, and welfare challenges through short-term, proactive support strategies.

  • Case Management: Maintain accurate records within digital systems (CRM), ensuring all safeguarding and data protection standards are met.

  • Outreach: Support the delivery of workshops, induction events, and wellbeing campaigns to promote positive help-seeking behaviours.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for individuals who can balance a high volume of enquiries with a compassionate, professional approach.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience: Previous experience providing front line support, advice, or guidance in a high-volume, complex environment.

  • Education: SCQF Level 8 (HND/SVQ4) or equivalent, or a proven track record of professional development in a similar role.

  • Knowledge: A strong understanding of student wellbeing issues (mental health, resilience, and transitions) and awareness of safeguarding pathways.

  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with distressed or anxious students.

  • Judgement: Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries and know exactly when to escalate a case.
