Summary

This post is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week for a Christie Clinical Haematologist based atLeighton Hospital to provide clinical support to the Christie Haematology @ Leighton service. The post will support the service to provide an excellent and high-quality patient focused service to meet the demand from our patients and referring centres.Any consultant who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personalbasis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. Role Purpose:This post is a collaborative venture between the Christie NHS Foundation Trust and MCHFT to support the clinical haematology services across the southern sector of the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Cancer Network (GMCCN) and the delivery of clinical and laboratory haematology on the Leighton Hospital site. The clinical haematology department based at Leighton Hospital is run by a highly motivated team providing outpatient, day care and inpatient service to BCSH level 2a. The post will be based at Leighton Hospital. The post holder will be a core member of the Haematology and lymphoma multi-disciplinary teams and the post also offers the opportunity to develop a special interest to suit the interests of the successful applicant and the unmet needs of the Clinical haematology service. The role will be responsible for: To develop and implement best practice in Haematology To support staff in the delivery of a high quality service To be a core member of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). Membership on Hospital Transfusion Committee NEQAS film reportingDiagnostic Haematology serviceDiagnostic services for MCHFT haematology and biochemistry services are provided by the NMCPS, with a view to utilise the Manchester HODs (haematology diagnostic system) for reporting of bone marrow aspirates, trephines and for cytogenetic and molecular studies.
