Summary
All about the Role
The Revenues and Benefits Service has a vital role in the billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debt.
We currently have an opportunity to join our team as a Sundry Debt Officer, reporting to the Business Rates & Sundry Debt Team Leader.
You will undertake debt recovery work across the Sundry Debt and Business Rate Teams, providing an effective and efficient service for the debt recovery function. In doing so, helping to maximise the collection of income for the Council. This will be in accordance with relevant legislation, local policy, strategy and government directive. To work closely with key stakeholders and help ensure that the service is customer focused and provides value for money.
What you will need to do the role:
You will need to be a competent call handler (for both internal and external calls) across both the Sundry Debt and Business Rate areas, as well as a confident user of different IT systems. Knowledge of MRI One Revs and Bens (Academy) system and Unit 4 will be an advantage in this role, but training is available for the right candidate.
Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of a DBS check obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
