Your new role


As a Payroll assistant, you will support the delivery of end‑to‑end UK payroll processing for a range of clients. Your responsibilities will include preparing payroll data, processing starters and leavers, calculating statutory payments, and assisting with RTI submissions to HMRC. You will help with payroll reconciliations, maintain accurate employee records, and handle routine payroll queries. You will also gain exposure to payroll systems, compliance requirements, and process improvements while working closely with senior payroll professionals and cross-functional teams.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Some experience with UK end-to-end payroll
  • Basic understanding of UK payroll principles, including tax, NI, pensions, and statutory payments.
  • Strong numerical ability and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data handling.
  • Good communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines.
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong team ethos.
  • An interest in developing a career in payroll, with the ambition to work towards CIPP qualifications.
