Summary

Theatre lead/Team Manager Provide professional clinical leadership and operational management of the Main Operating Theatres including any off-site services. Act as Duty coordinator , managing the department, organising emergency surgery requests, ensuring the efficient running of elective operating lists, allocating staff and resources. Day to day management of the Theatre Workforce ensuring a cohesive approach to a timely, effective, and quality service for patients. Be responsible for working with staff to develop the service to improve both utilisation, daily patient flow, maximise efficiency and the patient experience. Provide specialist care, support and advice to patients and staff in the Operating Theatre. Working collaboratively with Senior theatre leaders and provide information on delays, start times, and late finishes, and minimising wasted resources in relation to staffing and equipment. To act as scrub team leader, organising and overseeing smooth running of lists Be responsible for an identified group of staff, development, training, monitoring, and documenting the development of their clinical skills Collect data and provide essential information in a timely and accurate manner as required in theatres by undertaking internal audits eg. WHO checklists brief and de-brief. Locsipps monitoring and updating. Ensure the theatre team is aware and compliant with the Trust and Theatre policies and procedures and they know how to access latest version To establish, lead and maintain high standard of pre/peri and post-operative care To be able to give expert clinical advise as required Ensure all equipment and theatre kit is resourced, serviced, maintained and available for theatre lists Ensure best practice initiatives are shared within the Department and across the trust. Provide specialist advice and clinical care to patients and lead and support the multi-disciplinary team on a regular basis i.e. Operating and manipulating delicate, specialist and expensive equipment. Accepting patients into the department and ensuring that the Trust Medicines Policy. Collection, labelling and processing specimens. Cleaning and stocking theatre and theatre equipment. Ensuing all estates issues are reported and resolved in line with health and safety of the department. Perform clinical procedures,catheterisation, laryngeal mask insertion, IM injections. Checking, ordering, documenting, administering and handling of controlled drugs. Drug preparation and administration according to the Trust Medicines policy. Monitoring of patients vital signs. Patient transfer and positioning for clinical procedures. Assembling and checking instrumentation. Decontamination and sterilisation of theatre equipment e.g. Endoscopy. Acting as scrub person, surgical assistant, circulating person and Anaesthetic Practitioner, Recovery Practitioner dependent upon qualifications, knowledge and experience Registered Practitioner. Engaging in the theatre weekly 6-4-2 and scheduling process to ensure all lists are staffed and appropriate kit ordered. To ensure delivery of high standards of peri-operative care to all patients through spot checks, audits and clinical quality indicators outcome measures. Including oversight of Health and safety within the peri -operative environment, risk assessments, infection control and prompt investigation of incident notification.
