Summary
School Finance Assistant – Tonbridge
Type: Full-time (Maternity Cover)
Dates: 13th April 2026 - 31st October 2026
Key Requirements
• Recent experience as a Finance Assistant in a school or college
• Enhanced DBS (preferably on the update service)
• Available to start ASAP
Purpose of the Role
You will support the school’s finance team to ensure smooth, accurate financial operations that support teaching and student outcomes. The role focuses on:
• Maintaining strong financial processes
• Supporting budgeting and reporting
• Ensuring efficiency and compliance
• Promoting a professional administrative environment
Core Responsibilities
Purchasing & Expenses
• Raise and manage purchase orders
• Process invoices and ensure approvals
• Handle credit card purchases in line with procedures
Sales & Income
• Raise sales invoices
• Chase outstanding payments (aged debt)
Cash Handling
• Count and record cash received
• Assist with banking
Financial Administration
• Monthly bank reconciliations
• Weekly payment runs
• Set up new suppliers and carry out checks
• Maintain accurate financial records
Reporting & Budgeting
• Produce monthly budget reports
• Support financial decision-making
School-Specific Tasks
• Manage ParentPay system
• Administer free school meal vouchers
• Support stationery stock processes
General Duties
• Monitor finance inboxes and respond to queries
• Work collaboratively with the wider team
• Support during staff absences

• Organised and efficient
• Comfortable working with finance systems
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Proactive and able to improve processes
