Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Class Teacher to promote the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational Alternative Provision Settings in Newcastle on a full-time and long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development. All Subject specialisms will be considered.
About the Role:
- The role will involve planning and teaching engaging and informative lessons that inspire pupils with SEMH, and allows all pupils to make progress.
- Working with Secondary aged pupils who have been excluded from mainstream School and have SEMH and SEND of varying levels as well as challenging behaviour
- Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
- The role will involve managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner
- Differentiating lessons appropriately to engage pupils and to suit the needs and earning styles of all pupils.
- Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress
- Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
- Working effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience
About the School:
- The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Newcastle.
- The School supports pupils across the Secondary School age range who have SEMH and challenging behaviour
Pay, Hours and Contract:
- Pay - Between £130-200 per day
- Hours - 08.30-16.00
- Contract - Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2026. Temporary Contract.
- Start Date - ASAP
- Location - Newcastle
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:
- An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
- QTS and Teaching experience in either SEND, Primary or Secondary School settings within the UK.
- Strong Behaviour Management skills
- Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress
- Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport
- A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work
- Experience of Teaching within the UK
- A genuine passion for Teaching and building relationships with pupils who face barriers to learning
