Job Purpose
I am seeking a reliable and compassionate support worker to join my team and provide support for 8 hours per week, split across 2 days. I am 36 years old and live at home in Sutton Coldfield, with my parents and our two cats. I am a music lover and have a passion for cars and all things vintage and retro. I have Moebius Syndrome which affects my limbs and mobility and occasionally use a wheelchair. I suffer with anxiety and depression and would benefit a supportive, patient, and positive approach which will help me feel confident and motivated in my day-to-day life.
The role involves not only providing practical care and assistance but also encouraging and enabling me to maintain my independence, pursue my interests and stay actively engaged in the activities I enjoy.
Main duties
Personal care:
Encouragement and prompting with personal hygiene routine ensuring comfort and dignity at all times.
Appointments & community
Support is required to accompany me to and from medical appointments and to access the local community. A full driving licence is essential.
Perform any other duties that are of a reasonable request.
All training will be provided.
Person Specification:
A driver is essential for this role.
Be patient and supportive.
Be honest, reliable, and trustworthy.
Be respectful of the gentleman’s dignity, at all times.
Understand the need for privacy and confidentiality.
You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and raise any concerns immediately.
A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.
