Summary
This role will support the day-to-day smooth running of the department through maintaining office systems including the development and maintenance of paper and electronic filing systems to ensure the safe transfer and storage of information and efficient management of the Endoscopy waiting lists.
You will be required to add Endoscopy patients to the waiting list on Cerner, EMS and Casper providing breach date information to the team while working closely with the speciality managers, pathway navigators and Endoscopy waiting list coordinators. The post holder will be responsible for answering calls and dealing with any relevant queries and checking the endoscopy phone answering machines for messages. This role also involves supporting reception with front of house duties and with the preparation of endoscopy lists administration paperwork.
We are looking for an Enthusiastic and adaptable team member to join our expanding Gastroenterology team. This Job will require cross site working with the primary site being at Hemel Hempstead Hospital. The working hours will be Monday – Friday/9AM – 5PM.

The post holder must be fully conversant and competent in the features of the administration systems which supports all aspects of the management of the Endoscopy waiting lists and will be expected to have full knowledge of the contents of the Patient Access Policy. They will be responsible for data entry of waiting list onto the relevant systems (Casper/EMS/Cerner) and be responsible for intended procedures to be correctly entered onto the systems.
In addition to own workload the post holder will be expected to provide support in the department during annual leave, sick leave and during busy periods where there is an imbalance of work. This includes cross site cover.
They will be responsible for providing excellent communication and information for patients coming into hospital. Highlighting any concerns in a timely manner. This role also supports Endoscopy reception with front of house duties, checking patients in and with all reception administration-based tasks.
Key relationships for this role will include the Endoscopy waiting list coordinators, Endoscopy Booking office Manager, Gastroenterology administrators, Endoscopy Reception and Rota Manager, receptionists, Telephone Assessment Service (TAS) and Bowel Cancer Screening programme (BCSP) team members, BCSP and TAS programme manager, patients and relatives, Consultants and Nurse endoscopists, Staff Nurses, Charge Nurses, other administrative and clerical staff, porters, decontamination staff, service managers and deputy service managers.
