Role OverviewAs an Early Years Practitioner Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced educators to support care, learning and development for children aged 0–5 years. This apprenticeship is a hands-on role: you’ll learn on the job while completing your Level 3 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard.
Key Responsibilities
Support a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that meets children’s physical, social, emotional and developmental needs.
Work with other staff to plan, prepare and facilitate activities that promote curiosity, learning and play across all age groups.
Build positive relationships with children, acting as a key person where appropriate, and support individual care routines (meals, sleep, hygiene).
Supervise and engage children during indoor and outdoor play, promoting wellbeing, confidence and independence.
Support children’s communication and language development through stories, songs, games and interactions.
Observe and record children’s progress and contribute to learning journeys in line with EYFS.
Maintain safeguarding, health & safety standards at all times, following nursery policies and procedures.
Work collaboratively with the nursery team and communicate with parents/carers to support children and families.
Training & Development
Completion of the Level 3 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard, including on- and off-the-job learning.
Coaching and mentorship from senior practitioners.
Professional development opportunities and support towards future early years careers.
Person SpecificationEssential Qualities
A passion for working with children and helping them flourish.
Good communication skills and a friendly, patient disposition.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Enthusiasm for learning and meeting apprenticeship requirements.
Desirable Qualifications
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (grade 4/C or above) – but not essential as part of the apprenticeship.
