Summary
There is an opportunity to join the Critical Care team in Conquest as a band 5 nurse. If you have some acute experience, substantial experience on an acute ward, and you would like a new challenge - then critical care could be for you.
There is a clear education programme and teaching for our new starters. You will given at least 6 weeks supernumerary and once this is completed you have a national workbook called the steps 1 to complete.
During this time you will learn to look after the most critically unwell patients in the hospital. You will be supported by your team leader, clinical skills facilitator, practice educator and will have regular support and coaching shifts.
We also have a clinical psychologist cross site who supports our patients, relatives and staff.
East Sussex Healthcare Trust has 2 Critical Care units: We are currently recruiting for Conquest which comprises of 6 ITU, 4 HDU beds and 4 Level 1 Enhanced Care beds.

As a Staff Nurse you will be responsible for providing individualised nursing care to critically ill patients as part of our multidisciplinary team. The care required reflects a holistic approach emphasising the unique and often complex needs of both the patient and their loved ones.
Our nurses are supported by a Practice Educator and clinical skills facilitator. We provide an environment conducive to professional and personal development for all disciplines of staff. In order to fulfil the job role, achieve the essential competencies and meet service needs, successful candidates will be required to work day and night 11.5-hour shifts on internal rotation.
You will have the opportunity to work in both units developing different skills and experiences. Internal ESHT applicants are welcome to apply.
