We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Ashford, supporting pupils aged 3 to 19 years with severe, profound, and complex learning needs.
Staff enjoy working at the school and say it has a positive working culture where colleagues feel supported, value the collaborative ethos, and report professional growth and satisfaction in contributing to a team focused on children's needs
About the role
In this rewarding role, you will play a key part in helping pupils reach their full potential, academically, socially, and emotionally. Every day will be different, and your support will have a meaningful impact on the lives of the young people you work with.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
- Support pupils with behaviour, communication, and emotional regulation
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers and wider school staff
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive interactions
What we're looking for
- Experience working with SEND/SEN pupils (essential)
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A proactive and flexible attitude
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
- Right to work in the UK
- Relevant experience in education, care, or support roles
