Summary
SEN Teaching Assistant
Supporting students with additional needs across local secondary mainstream schools in and around Stockport.
Teaching Personnel are recruiting dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs in secondary schools across Stockport, including areas such as Cheadle, Bramhall, Hazel Grove, Heaton Chapel, Reddish and Offerton.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people, whether you have school‑based experience, SEN experience, or transferable skills from care, youth work, support work or psychology backgrounds.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for students with SEN
- Help pupils engage with learning and develop confidence
- Support the class teacher in maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Adapt resources and activities to meet individual needs
- Promote independence, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Work closely with the SENCo and wider pastoral team
The Ideal Candidate
We would love to hear from you if you are:
- Experienced working with children or young people (school, care, mentoring, youth work, support work or similar)
- Confident supporting SEN pupils or willing to learn
- Patient, proactive and able to build strong relationships
- Able to follow support plans and adapt to different needs
- Reliable and committed to making a positive impact
- Available full‑time, Monday to Friday (school hours)
A Level 2/3 TA qualification or SEN experience is desirable but not essential.
