The role

As a Systems and Applications Operations Engineer, you’ll join a friendly, large multi-faceted team professional team within the Council’s Technology Service, supporting the effective operation and development of key management information systems. You’ll help deliver and support a wide range of applications used across our offices, external partners and community services.

You will act as the lead for nominated systems becoming a true system expert. Working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and third‑party suppliers, you’ll help shape system improvements, support upgrades, test new developments and resolve complex technical issues to ensure our systems continue to meet business and statutory needs, as well as providing a professional, high quality, third line support service.

As systems applications engineer, excellent customer service and relationship building skills are a must, as well as an ability to work to your own initiative and problem solve. Occasional out of hours working may be required to support system upgrades and changes, as well as occasional travel to other NYC sites and supplier events.

The role offers Hybrid Working, with expectation to attend council offices across North Yorkshire when required. Your base office location will be one of the NYC offices- Northallerton, Selby, Harrogate or Scarbrough depending on which is most convenient for you.
