Summary
The post holders clinical duties will be based on our in-patient surgical ward, outpatient clinics and operating theatre. The work on the ward encompasses arranging investigations, selecting appropriate treatment and providing peri-operative care. This includes consultations on Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) for review of gynaecological oncology patients who need to be seen in a (semi-)urgent timeframe. The post holder will require excellent communication skills to work on this ward providing care to patients with a wide range of disease presentations. Team working and organizational skills are paramount in the care of our patients. The post holder will be required to demonstrate an awareness of the limitations of their practice. The post holder will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of outpatient clinics which include new and follow-up gynaecological oncology, colposcopy and vulva clinics. They will be able to assist in operating theatres and will have the opportunity to develop surgical skills. The successful candidate will take part in a full shift rota, with 6 other trainees and this is to manage gynaecological oncology patients only. There is no obstetric or general gynaecology on call. This is a non-resident on call 1:7 on a 2-tier rota. When first on call you will be supported by a Subspecialty Fellow in the first period and a consultant off-site. This post is EWTD compliant.
