Summary
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, 08.00 – 17.00 with an hour earlier finish every Friday. There is a need to work 1 in 3 weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary), and part of an on-call rota.
The base salary is between £34,404 - £43,440 dependant on experience.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly. As part of our mobile engineering team, you’ll be making a meaningful impact every day, working in environments where your expertise directly supports critical services. You’ll tackle technical challenges, deliver mission-critical services, and work alongside a team of expert engineers.
What you will do:
Deliver expert maintenance and fault‑finding on commercial gas and mechanical systems, including high‑capacity boilers, radiant tube heaters, and commercial water heaters
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs, ensuring systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational
Undertake gas appliance servicing and inspections, including combustion analysis and flue gas integrity testing
Perform tightness testing on commercial gas pipework
Maintain and support gas interlock systems and mechanical ventilation installations were fitted
Support new works, installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities
Act as Responsible Person (RP) within your skillset, with opportunities to progress to Authorised Person (AP) status — full training provided
Always work safely in line with Amey’s Zero Code and industry best practice
Follow MOJ/HMPPS security procedures, including tool control and site protocols
Provide escorting support when required within secure environments
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role and your level of competence
What you will bring:
Gas Safe registered with commercial qualifications, including:
CODNCO1 – Core Domestic to Non‑Domestic Changeover
CIGA1 – Commercial Indirect Fired Heating Appliances
ICPN1 – Installation of Commercial Gas Pipework
TPCP1 / TPCP1A – Testing & Purging of Commercial Gas Pipework
NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering (advantageous, particularly for water systems)
Willingness to train and progress into Gas & Mechanical Authorised Person (AP) / Responsible Person (RP) duties
Proven experience maintaining commercial gas plant, including:
High‑efficiency condensing boilers
Forced draught burners
Direct‑fired water heaters
Radiant tube heating systems
Strong technical knowledge of combustion control systems, ventilation interlocks, and pressure regulation
Legionella awareness and an understanding of water system compliance
Comfortable working at heights and across multiple plant environments
