Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chemistry Lecturer to join a reputable college in North London on a part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to inspire and support learners studying Chemistry across a range of levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across Chemistry courses (e.g., GCSE, A-Level, or BTEC Applied Science)

  • Plan engaging and interactive lessons aligned with curriculum and awarding body requirements

  • Support learners in developing theoretical understanding and practical laboratory skills

  • Prepare and supervise laboratory experiments in line with health and safety regulations

  • Assess, mark, and provide constructive feedback on assignments and coursework

  • Monitor learner progress and implement targeted support where required

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement

  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes

  • Support learners in progressing to higher education, apprenticeships, or careers in STEM fields

Requirements
  • Relevant qualification in Chemistry or a related scientific field (Degree required)

  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one

  • Experience teaching Chemistry in a Further Education or similar setting

  • Strong subject knowledge across key areas of Chemistry (e.g., organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry)

  • Understanding of laboratory health and safety standards

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills

  • Ability to motivate and support learners from a range of backgrounds

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
