Summary

Barts Health NHS Trust has a vision to be a high performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. In addition to that, we work to become an outstanding, inclusive place to work.

The Trust includes The Royal London Hospital, Mile End Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital and Newham University Hospital. Our hospitals are equipped with a wide range of radiological imaging equipment including modern digital radiography and fluoroscopy units, interventional radiological and cardiac angiography suites, spectral CT scanners, mammography units and a variety of dental units in our Dental Hospital.

The Radiation Safety Section provides radiation safety and physics support to users of ionising radiation across many clinical departments within the Trust and to external employers. This includes a personal dosimetry service which monitors staff radiation exposure to ensure doses remain as low as practicable and in compliance with radiation safety legislation.

This role will support the delivery of the personal dosimetry service to ensure the department support safe monitoring of staff radiation exposure and meet key performance indicators for service delivery. You will have the opportunity to gain experience across the spectrum of our work and make contributions to the team objectives.

The Radiation Safety Section is based at the Royal London Hospital where you will be predominantly based, though you may from time to time be required to work other Trust sites.

The post-holder will primarily support the personal dosimetry service manager and contribute to other aspects of the Department's work including data handling and analysis and audits.

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.

The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients.

Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.

We strive to live by our WeCare values and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment.
