About this opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Conversation Designer to help build the future of Conversational Banking at Lloyds Banking Group.

You'll bring deep expertise in human-centred design and conversational AI, confidently driving an experience-led approach as we build natural, effective interactions for our customers. You'll thrive on both the detail and the big picture - zooming in to compose outstanding conversations and zooming out to influence strategy and direction.

As a member of our fast-paced Agentic AI team, you'll combine research and insights to apply conversation principles to generative AI products. You'll develop interactions that feel natural, effective, and aligned with our tone of voice. You'll lead the conversation direction within the team and manage relationships with various collaborators.

You'll embrace ambiguity, have an experimental approach, and a desire to test, learn, and iterate fast.

You'll be comfortable giving and receiving feedback to key internal customers across the business and will work closely with product teams to build success metrics.

What you'll do be doing

  • Collaborate with your fellow designers and use your expertise to help build the overall design approach and user experience.

  • Use evidence to inform decisions and champion the user perspective.

  • Take ownership as the conversation and content build expert in an agile environment. Advocate for Conversation Build across product teams, improve ways of working, and mentor others in the field.

  • Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and product owners to deliver seamless experiences.

  • Think strategically about how our conversations can evolve. Spot opportunities to connect them with other experiences. Communicate clearly with collaborators, manage expectations, and include multiple perspectives.

  • Facilitate workshops and discussions to ensure business context, needs, and risks are understood.

  • Promote and demonstrate how effective writing helps users (whether colleague or customer).

  • Guide others to make sound building decisions and challenge constraints.

  • Take ownership of your own development and help guide others in conversation building through coaching and mentoring.

  • Be an active member of the design community, sharing knowledge and embedding development principles across products and services.

What we're looking for?

  • A highly motivated, proactive approach with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Strong relationship-building skills, using empathy and credibility to engage senior audiences.

  • Confidence to provide constructive challenge and resilience under pressure.

  • Ability to identify and respond to emerging risks and priorities.

Your experience and skills

  • Strong experience crafting conversational interfaces, with confidence in generative AI and agentic design.

  • Deep understanding of how conversation works and how to apply it in AI.

  • Curiosity to learn, share, and bring new ideas from the broader conversational AI community.

  • Innovative problem-solving skills and ability to encourage collaboration.

  • Outstanding communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Expertise in building thinking and facilitation.

  • The ability to influence and manage multiple collaborators across product, risk, legal and branding teams.

  • A collaborative approach ready to be a part of a busy multi-disciplinary team.

And any experience of these would be great

  • Familiarity working in a complex landscape - ideally financial services.

  • Experience using and collaborating in Build platforms, such as Figma.
