Summary
Are you passionate about working with children, or keen to try a new challenge?
Would you like to make a change to young lives and support children in their early development, whilst working as part of a village community.
If so, a vacancy exists for an Early Years Practitioner, to cover maternity leave, at Holmes Chapel Community Pre-school, to start from May 2026.
You will work as a part of the Pre-school team, under the direction of the Manager/Deputy Manager to provide safe, high quality education and care for young children.
Applicants would preferably hold a recognised Level 2 or 3 qualification in early years, however, we would welcome applicants with experience in early years, who have a creative mind and are keen to inspire our young learners.
The ideal candidate would be knowledgeable about children's development and the EYFS.
Some experience of working with SEN children is preferable, although not essential.
We have regular staff socials outside of preschool working hours and would welcome a new member to join our small experienced and qualified team, where practices and fresh ideas are shared freely.
Initially, the post in the summer term will be for three days per week, potentially Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, to include some wraparound care (breakfast and afterschool club) with the flexibility to cover staff absences and/or training on other days.
From September, the post will be for a minimum of two days, to include some wraparound care (breakfast and afterschool club) with the flexibility to cover staff absences and/or training on other days.
Potential hours of work will be between 7.45 am to 6.15 pm Monday to Friday, however, there is some flexibility with this. You may be required to work a combination of mornings, afternoons and full days. This position is term-time only.
Flexibility to cover additional sessions and inset days, for training and planning, will be required.
Initially this is to cover maternity leave, however, there may be the potential for this to become a permanent position.
Successful applicants will be provided with a uniform. Any statutory training such as Paediatric First Aid training, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene will be provided, costs covered by the preschool.
There will be other in house training opportunities for personal development growth and costs are covered by Preschool for any relevant training which will enhance your knowledge in the early years.
Holmes Chapel Community Preschool is committed to safeguarding and the successful applicant will be required to complete a full DBS and subscribe to the Update Service, costs covered by the preschool.
References will be requested, where possible prior to interview and any relevant issues arising from these references will be taken up at interview. References and the DBS (and update service subscription) will be required prior to commencement of the position.
We are a committee managed, not for profit Preschool (charity number 1017112), based in Holmes Chapel in the grounds of Holmes Chapel Primary School.
