Summary

MIS Manager – York
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent or Temporary
Salary: £45,236 to £49,423

Main Purpose
Lead and manage Management Information Systems (MIS) within an education establishment, ensuring accurate, secure, and efficient data processes. Provide timely management information to staff and external agencies, supporting funding maximisation and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
• Lead and manage the MIS team within an education establishment, ensuring high performance and accountability.
• Allocate workloads and resources to meet deadlines for reporting, audits, and data returns.
• Support staff development to maintain strong technical and funding knowledge.
Funding and Planning
• Interpret and apply funding guidance (DfE, OfS, devolved authorities) to ensure compliance within an education establishment.
• Support curriculum and finance teams with funding forecasts and planning.
• Contribute to business and curriculum planning cycles.
Funding Allocations and Claims
• Oversee funding allocations and ensure accurate, timely claims within an education establishment.
• Monitor income, reconcile funding, and identify risks or growth opportunities.
• Lead funding growth requests and manage devolved funding agreements.
Data Collections, Returns and Audits
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of statutory returns (e.g., ILR, HESES) within an education establishment.
• Lead audit preparation and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
• Manage data collection schedules across departments.
Performance and Reporting
• Develop dashboards and reports to support decision-making and performance monitoring within an education establishment.
• Produce performance tables aligned with KPIs.
• Analyse data trends to drive improvement.
Systems and Process Development
• Lead development and optimisation of MIS systems (e.g., ProSuite, 4Cast, Power BI) within an education establishment.
• Improve automation and data validation processes.
• Manage system access, training, and security.
Compliance and GDPR
• Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection policies within an education establishment.
• Manage data retention, subject access requests, and secure data handling.
• Maintain compliance with governance and audit standards.
Communication and Collaboration
• Provide guidance to senior leaders and departments within an education establishment on data, funding, and compliance.
• Represent MIS in meetings and external networks.
• Promote a data-driven culture within an education establishment.
Supporting Goals and Values
• Contribute to the strategic objectives of an education establishment.
• Promote high standards of service and professionalism.
• Support safeguarding, equality and diversity, and health and safety practices.
