Summary
SEN Teaching Assistant Andover
Prospero Teaching is looking for a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join supportive schools in Andover. This role involves working closely with pupils who have additional needs, including autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, learning delays, or social-emotional challenges.
You will play an important role in helping pupils settle into their routines, engage with classwork, build confidence, and feel supported throughout the school day. Staff at these schools work collaboratively, so you will be well-supported while making a genuine difference to pupils who benefit from extra guidance and consistency.
This position is ideal for individuals with experience in care, support roles, youth work, childcare, or graduates in psychology, education, criminology, child development, or similar fields.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 support to pupils with identified SEND needs
Assist with small-group activities to boost learning and social skills
Help pupils stay focused, regulate emotions, and manage transitions
Adapt learning tasks under guidance from the class teacher or SENCO
Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and engagement
Work alongside teachers and SEN staff to implement support plans
Contribute to a calm, encouraging and structured atmosphere
Ideal Candidate:
Experience in SEN, care work, youth support, or any role involving vulnerable individuals
Calm, patient, reliable, and confident supporting children with varied needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Positive role model who can build trust quickly
Able to adapt to different year groups and learning needs
Psychology, education, or related graduates encouraged to apply

Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals desirable
Safeguarding training available
Knowledge of SEND strategies beneficial
Eligibility:
Right to work in the UK
