Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical Coder to join the Northern Care Alliance (NCA) Clinical Coding Team.

At NCA, you’ll code across one of the widest specialty ranges of any NHS trust — from obstetrics and neonates to spinal, neurosurgery, rehab and major trauma. We are seekingexperienced, accredited clinical coderswho hold theNational Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC)and have proven multi-specialty experience.

As a Senior Clinical Coder (Band 5), you will:
• Code a diverse casemix, from high-volume day cases to highly specialised activity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Work collaboratively across multiple hospital sites within a large, supportive department.
• Mentor and support less experienced coders, strengthening team capability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and service development.

• The Coding Team is a skilled team with an excellent reputation that ensures complete and accurate coding of Trust activity. We have an in-house Coded Data and Standards Assurance Audit and Training Team to support in your development.
• While the candidate will have daily duties and responsibilities, the spectrum of work may be broad across the Department.
• To provide an efficient and high-quality clinical coding service by ensuring accuracy within the interpretation of descriptions of patient diagnoses and procedural events using the (ICD-10) International Classification of Diseases and the (OPCS) Classification of Interventions and Procedure (OPCS-4) to carry out the coding function.
