Summary

Candidate is expected to work at the level of a ST6-ST7 year 6 and year 7 of training) at level of a senior registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English
that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). This post has arisen due to middle grade expansion for a period of 24 months. The post will enable us to maintain an adequate level of obstetrics and gynaecology activity and will
be an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to gain further experience in the speciality. It is full-time position however if candidate is unable, for personal reasons, work full time, candidate will still be eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job description will be discussed on a personal basis following consultation with College Tutors.
The successful post holder must have full registration with the General Medical Council. Post will be based at the Women's and Children's Hospital, Hull Royal Infirmary, but the post holder will be expected to provide services across both main hospital sites (including Castle Hill Hospital) as required. Currently we have 1:11 rota supported by resident consultant for 24 hours Monday to Friday and weekend nights with 8:00-12:00 resident consultant presence during weekend days and nonresident after. With these new middle grade expansion posts, the rota is expected to change and support phasing out some elements of resident consultant on call. The O&G registrar rota will also work towards presence of 2 registrars on night shifts with this
expansion of initial 2 posts and further 2 later this year.
