A medium sized housing developer is seeking a Site Manager to provide cover on a residential development site in Chillington. The company specialises in quality house building and is committed to delivering projects safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
Job Description
The Site Manager is responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the construction site, ensuring that all activities comply with health and safety regulations, quality standards, and project timelines. This role involves direct oversight of site operations, coordination with subcontractors, and ensuring efficient resource allocation to meet project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, organise and control site activities to ensure timely completion of construction phases.
• Manage and supervise subcontractors and site operatives on a daily basis.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and company policies.
• Monitor site progress and quality standards, reporting to senior management as required.
• Maintain accurate site records including daily reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Oversee the delivery, storage and use of materials and plant to optimise site efficiency and minimise waste.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers and clients to resolve issues promptly.
• Conduct regular site inspections and toolbox talks to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Ensure all site staff hold the appropriate qualifications and certifications.
• Drive site inductions and maintain site discipline to uphold company standards.
Required Qualifications
• Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
• Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
• Valid First Aid at Work certificate.
• Full UK driving licence.
Education and Experience
• Proven experience as a Site Manager within house building or residential construction projects.
• Demonstrable knowledge of construction processes, site management and health and safety standards.
• Experience in managing subcontractors and site teams effectively.
• Familiarity with quality control procedures and site documentation.
Knowledge and Skills
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficient in site management software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Commitment to promoting and maintaining a safe working environment.
Working Conditions
• Full-time contract position based on site in Chillington, Devon.
• Work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Occasional requirement to work extended hours to meet project deadlines.
• Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
• Travel to and from site as required, therefore a full driving licence is essential.
