About the role
At Sunnyside, no two days are ever the same — and that's what makes working here so special. You'll be joining a friendly, supportive team who work together to provide meaningful, person-centred care for seven wonderful adults aged between their 40s and 70s. Our residents have a range of needs including PMLD, autism, epilepsy and communication support plans, and we'll give you all the training you need to feel confident in your role.
As a Support Worker, you'll be helping people live fulfilling lives both at home and out in the community. This includes supporting with full personal care for two ladies, offering gentle prompting for others, and using hoists and wheelchairs where needed. You'll also be part of the fun day-to-day activities that make Sunnyside feel like home — from arts and crafts, baking and bingo, to keep-fit sessions, catching up on favourite soaps, visiting local pubs and cafes, and even enjoying holidays away. One lady is a huge Beatles fan, so music lovers are very welcome!
Sunnyside is set in a peaceful village community with lots of local events at the pavilion, so there are plenty of opportunities to get out and about. Because of the location, being a driver is essential (we have both manual and automatic vehicles available)
Shifts include earlies, lates, occasional sleep-ins, and you'll need to be happy working alternate weekends.
About you
To thrive as a Support Worker in this home, you will be someone who is compassionate, reliable, and genuinely motivated to make a positive difference in people's lives. You don't need previous experience in social care, but you do need the right values, the willingness to learn, and the confidence to support individuals to live the life they choose.
You'll bring strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with the people you support, their families, and your colleagues. A good Support Worker here is patient, calm under pressure, and able to adapt to different situations with empathy and professionalism. You'll also be proactive, observant, and comfortable encouraging people to develop their independence and try new things.
Basic IT skills are important, as you'll use digital systems for recording notes, completing training, and staying connected as part of the team. You'll show a commitment to your own learning and development, embracing the training we provide to ensure you feel confident and equipped in your role.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who brings positivity, kindness, and respect to every interaction, helping create a safe, supportive, and happy environment for the people who live here.
