Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maths and English Lecturer to join a well-established college in East London on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to support and inspire learners in achieving their functional skills and GCSE qualifications in Maths and English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching in Maths and English across a range of levels, including Functional Skills and GCSE

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet curriculum and awarding body requirements

  • Support learners in developing core numeracy and literacy skills for academic and career progression

  • Assess, mark, and provide constructive and timely feedback on student work

  • Monitor and track learner progress, implementing interventions where necessary

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement, and progression

  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Support learners in progressing to further education, apprenticeships, or employment

Requirements

  • Relevant degree in Mathematics, English, or a related subject

  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)

  • Experience teaching Maths and/or English in a Further Education or similar setting

  • Strong understanding of GCSE and Functional Skills curriculum

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills

  • Ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
