Summary


Are you an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist looking to develop your skills within a supportive acute hospital environment? We have two exciting opportunities to join our dynamic team, working with adult inpatients across a diverse and rewarding caseload.

This rotational role offers the chance to gain experience across a range of specialist areas, including our Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU), Acute Stroke Unit (ASU), stroke rehabilitation beds, and general medical, elderly care and respiratory wards.

About the Role

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality care to adult inpatients presenting with communication and swallowing disorders, often linked to complex neurological conditions. Your responsibilities will include:
• Assessment, diagnosis and management of speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties
• Working closely within a multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery and rehabilitation
• Providing evidence-based interventions tailored to individual patient needs
• Supporting safe and effective dysphagia managemen

What We Offer

• Ongoing training, supervision and professional development
• Assess and diagnose communication and swallowing disorders arising from a variety of aetiologies. Develop and implement programmes of care with support from senior colleagues as required
• Liaise with a wide range of professional colleagues and other agencies to ensure comprehensive management of the patient. This includes attending regular handover meetings and case conferences.
• Work closely with patients and their carers in goal setting and decision making around the management of the patient
• Carefully plan for patient discharge, ensuring appropriate onward referral and liaison as required.
