Summary
Job Title: Food Technician
Location: Sevenoaks
Type: Full-time, Permanent (Term-time only – 39 weeks)
Salary: £25,252 FTE (£22,010.84 pro rata)
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Food Technician to support a busy and dynamic Food Technology department. The role involves assisting teachers with lesson delivery, preparing materials and ingredients, and providing general administrative and organisational support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare classrooms, equipment, and ingredients for Food Technology lessons
• Support teachers and students during practical sessions
• Order, check, and manage stock in line with the curriculum and budget
• Maintain hygiene standards, safety procedures, and accurate records (including allergy data)
• Ensure safe storage, use, and disposal of food and equipment
• Assist with classroom displays, departmental events, and extracurricular activities
• Help organise departmental resources, calendars, and projects (e.g. herb garden)
• Liaise with staff during absences and support general departmental administration
Requirements:
• GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths
• Good organisational, communication, and IT skills (Word, Excel; Photoshop desirable)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks
• Experience working with young people or in a similar environment is desirable
Personal Qualities:
• Reliable, approachable, and adaptable
• Positive and proactive attitude
• Calm under pressure with good interpersonal skills
• Discreet and professional, with a commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient, and supportive learning environment and may be expected to undertake additional duties appropriate to the role.
