Summary
The East Anglian Regional Radiation Protection Service (EARRPS) is a high-quality scientific and technical advisory service in the field of radiation protection and diagnostic radiology physics. We are looking for three Senior Clinical Scientists, specialising in radiation protection and diagnostic radiology physics to join our service.
The service promotes systems of work that ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff when using ionising and non-ionising sources of radiation such as x-rays, radioactive materials, lasers and UV cabinets. A wide range of services are provided including, imaging equipment performance testing and optimisation, radiation facility design and environmental monitoring, patient radiation dose assessment, regulatory audits and advice, instrument calibration, radioactive waste management and, teaching and training.
You will be responsible for leading and coordinating specific areas of the service depending on skills and experience.
You will be a HCPC-registered Clinical Scientist with significant experience in the delivery of diagnostic radiology physics and radiation protection services. You must be qualified to act as a Medical Physics Expert in relevant modalities and/or a Radiation Protection Advisor (or have sufficient knowledge and experience to apply for the relevant certification within 6 months of appointment). You will operate within both our HSE-recognised RPA Body and our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
A passion for service delivery is essential along with an ability to coordinate and supervise the work of others. You must have excellent communication skills and experience of multidisciplinary teaching and training. You will be required to travel throughout the region on a regular basis and may be asked to work from other hospitals in the region, depending on service developments and individual circumstances.
