Summary


The post holder will be a key member of the Radiology Leadership and Interventional team, working with and supporting the Lead Radiographers, Radiology Sister and the Radiology Department Manager to provide the IR and Fluoroscopy service for the Royal Hampshire County hospital.

The post holder must demonstrate a working knowledge of all regulations including IRMER and IRR(17).

To undertake imaging in all aspects of interventional and fluoroscopy including all complex interventional radiology procedures and the performance of upper GI contrast studies.

Prior interventional and fluoroscopic experience is essential.
• To work with the IR Lead Radiographer to ensure an efficient and continuously improving delivery of the IR service
• To work with the Lead Upper GI Radiographer to ensure an efficient and continuously improving delivery of the barium swallow service
• To carry out front line patient care and high-quality radiographic examinations essential to diagnosis and treatment.
• Liaise closely with Consultant Radiologists and colleagues within the clinical multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients receive optimum care.
• Assess the suitability of patients to undergo general radiographic examinations and specialised procedures and modify technique accordingly.
• To assess own workload and maintain associated records in an unsupervised area of responsibility.
• Actively participate in and be responsible for the organisation of the multidisciplinary team and patient workload in allocated areas on a daily basis.
• With the support of Lead Radiographers, develop and implement departmental protocols and standard operational procedures.
• With the support of Lead Radiographers, coordinate, manage and monitor own work lists within area of expertise.
