Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Lewisham and Addictions Directorate Leadership Team for a Senior Business & Performance Manager. The role is based at the Ladywell Unit, Lewisham.
In this role, you will take leadership and responsibility for the Directorates business and performance priorities, providing robust support to the Directorate leadership team and front line clinical services so that we can meet mandatory and local requirements.

You will be responsible for the Directorate business and performance working very closely with Service Director. Your role will focus on supporting senior managers to meet assurance frameworks, provide professional leadership for the administration workforce and support the transformation of business intelligence.
The role will be responsible:
To lead the operational and service delivery agenda in partnership with clinical colleagues, to meet the agreed plans standards of care and priorities within available resources for these in-patients and outpatient led services.
To manage and support the delivery of Lewisham Operations Directorate performance standards for the Trust, including administration of performance management and monitoring, ensuring development of systems and processes to ensure the achievement of key national and financial targets, and local objectives within the Operations Directorate, including the development of action/ recovery plans, and the implementation/ monitoring thereof.
To contribute to the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives of the Lewisham Operations Directorate.
To work with the finance and performance business partners, making use of income and expenditure information to support service strategy. To support the development of the annual business plan for the Operations Directorate. Project management of service improvement and process improvement initiatives.
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. We work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre.
SLaM employ around 5000 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million people. We have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient and community services. Currently, provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 people each year and treat more than 45,000 patients in the community in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; as well as substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.

1) Operational Delivery
• Work effectively as a member of the senior team to ensure high quality patient services are maintained at all times, devising and initiating corrective action where necessary.
• Where required, deputise for the Service Director and represent the CSC.
2) Planning
• As part of the management team, support the annual and strategic planning of the Operations Directorate taking into account impacts on the wider Trust.
• In conjunction with the management team support the agreement of priorities and objectives and translate these into service targets.
• Support the production of business cases / bids and where appropriate act as a project manager/project executive for service developments / capital schemes.
3) Performance Management
• Support the development of a performance management framework and data required to monitor the performance of services against all national and local targets and objectives.
• Prepare, interpret and circulate information to monitor the performance of services against plan, and where necessary prepare and manage corrective action.
4) Financial and Resource Management
• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of business management information. Liaise with managers, clinicians and finance department to ensure shared understanding of financial issues, and that agreed strategies to meet financial targets are implemented.
• Work together with the finance business partner and Operations Directorate management team to develop plans to achieve Cost Improvement Programmes and the delivery of operational QIPP programmes.
• Provide effective support to devolved budget holders and clinical teams, ensuring mangers and clinicians are engaged in the business planning and budget management processes. Responsible for keeping the Deputy Director apprised of current financial trends with potential solutions for dealing with any overspends.
