About the Role
Prospero Teaching is working with Local Councils and SEND teams across the UK to support young people who are currently out of mainstream education. These students may need additional learning support or have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
We are looking for a tutor with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent to deliver one to one Maths and English tuition for students from KS1 to KS4.
Students may have needs such as Autism or ADHD and may be working below their expected level due to time away from education. The tutor will assess their current ability and help reintroduce learning while a suitable school placement is arranged.
Sessions will take place in community settings such as local libraries or in the student's home.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one to one Maths and English tuition for KS1 to KS4 students
- Assess the student's current level and adapt lessons accordingly
- Support students with SEND including Autism and ADHD
- Help reintroduce learning and structure into the student's routine
- Use creative and flexible teaching approaches to engage learners
- Monitor and report on student progress
Experience Training and Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience working with SEND or disengaged pupils
UK classroom teaching experience
Strong understanding of SEN
Patient, flexible and able to adapt teaching approaches
Eligibility Requirements
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced Child Barred List DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Two professional references related to working with children
