Summary

Our client is looking for two personal assistants to support their son, who has Fragile X Syndrome
and Autism, and requires support with personal care, recreational activities and accessing the
community. He has words, but is not fully verbal, and uses a harness when in the community.
The successful candidates should be proactive and alert, as our client’s son can be quick to move
away and may attempt to leave situations unexpectedly. The role requires individuals who are
physically confident and able to support a tall and strong young man who may display challenging
behaviours at times. Routine and predictability is important to our client’s son, so the successful
candidates should be reliable, as well as being a clear communicator for the occasions where
circumstances result in a planned outing having to be changed.
Our client is looking for candidates who are patient, engaging, sensible, personable and have
excellent situational awareness. It is vital that the successful candidates always involve our client’s
son in social situations and conversations. He enjoys books, soft play, nature and shopping. He
particularly enjoys activities which meet his sensory needs such as train rides, roundabouts at the
park, trampolining and movement-based activities.
The role is 6 hours per week term time and 9 hours per week during school holidays, paid at
£12.21ph. The hours are to be worked outside of school hours during term time and can be
negotiated with our client. The role is based in Amcotts, Scunthorpe.
Driver essential, due to location.
Due to the nature of the role an enhanced DBS will need to be completed, which we will fund.
