Summary
We are looking for a dedicated, passionate and caring Preschool Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our brand-new setting. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee the team, maintain high standards of care and education, and ensure a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can truly thrive.
This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys being present on the floor, values teamwork and is confident taking overall responsibility for our Preschool.
PURPOSE OF JOB
· Provide a high quality, safe, caring and stimulating environment for children, staff and other in the setting.
· To be responsible for the efficient running of Scotter Pre-School on a day-to-day basis.
· To provide a wide variety of developmental, stimulating environment to ensure high standards of learning and development for our children.
· To support the continued professional development of the staff team.
· To take responsibility for drawing up long-term, medium-term and sessional curriculum plans which consider the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and to monitor the effectiveness of the setting’s curriculum.
· To establish a close working relationships with parents, carers, professionals, local school. Working to establish and maintain productive relationships that benefit the children in our care.
· Encourage parental involvement and support.
· To develop, implementation and review policies, procedures and practices within Scotter Pre-school.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Undertake the day-to-day management of the setting to ensure that high standards are developed and maintained
· Act as the SEND Lead, to ensure they are working with other external professionals in the identification, monitoring and management of child abuse and the implementation of appropriate care programmes to ensure adequate care of the children is maintained.
· Keep abreast of legislation, guidelines, policies to ensure the Early Years Foundation Stage is always met.
· With the support of the Trustees, develop and regularly review all policies and procedures on an annual cycle. Then, once reviewed and updated, passed to Trustees for approval.
· To have an appropriate action plan in place which enables the setting to achieve and maintain a minimum ‘standard rating’ at the next Ofsted inspection.
· Risk Assessments are completed and up to date and fire drills are regularly practised.
· Actively promote the setting through all avenues including social media and develop and maintain links with the local community.
· Carry out all administrative duties within the setting inline with our policies and procedures.
· To promote the work of the setting through regular updates on Famly and through our social media.
STAFFING
· Supervise and provide advice, guidance, support and identify training for staff.
· To supervise and support personnel within the setting including induction and individual supervision.
· To ensure all staff understand and work to Pre-School policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately.
· Ensure staff respect confidentiality at all times of both other members of staff and families/carers.
· Lead the recruitment and selection of staff with the support of Trustee(s).
· Support staff in the development and maintenance of appropriate planning, observation and assessment procedures to ensure a consistent service in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
· Act as the SEND lead and take overall accountability for this area.
· Oversee the designated Health and Safety Officer
RECORD KEEPING
· To maintain accurate, up to date records that fulfil Ofsted requirements.
· To be responsible for implementing our system of observation and record keeping so that children’s progress and achievements are effectively and regularly assessed and to monitor the effectiveness of the assessment procedures
WORKING WITH TRUSTEES
· Advise the Trustees of any concerns relating to individual children or their families or other staff members and ensure all legal and statutory requirements are implemented and to provide reports as required.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
· Minimum Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Early Years and Childcare.
· At least 2 years’ experience of working in an Early Years setting in a management/leader.
· GCSE qualification in English and Maths grade C or above (or equivalent).
· Experience and sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and statutory Ofsted guidance.
· As a minimum to have received Basic Awareness of Child Protection and Safeguarding Children training.
· Knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures relating to safeguarding children, health and safety, equal opportunities and confidentiality.
· Possess or be willing to obtain Paediatric First Aid certificate and First Aid at Work certificate (for adults).
· Ability to lead and work as part of a team.
· Communicate effectively with staff, parents, Trustees and children.
· Good IT skills.
· Ability to produce regular reports for the Trustees.
· Experience in administration and budget management.
