A rapidly growing engineering consultancy is expanding its specialist Data Centre team and is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer who is ready to take the step up into a Senior role. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with data centre or mission‑critical experience to accelerate their career within a structured, supportive environment.
You'll be joining a team delivering high‑resilience, high‑performance electrical systems for UK and international data centre projects-ranging from hyperscale developments to complex refurbishment schemes.
Your new role
You will be responsible for:
- Producing detailed electrical design for data centres and mission‑critical facilities
- Working on resilient LV/HV power systems, UPS, generators, redundancy strategies (N+1, N+N), and containment
- Supporting senior engineers in project delivery, client interaction, and technical reports
- Coordinating with mechanical, structural, and specialist mission‑critical teams
- Attending design reviews, workshops, and client meetings
- Taking ownership of work packages with a clear progression path to full Senior responsibilities
What you'll need to succeed
- Data centre or mission‑critical experience is essential (UPS, LV/HV, cooling interface, resilience)
- Strong electrical building services design background
- Understanding of Tier standards, Uptime Institute principles, or similar
- Proficiency with design tools such as Amtech/Trimble, AutoCAD, Revit (desirable)
- Strong communication skills with an interest in stepping up to client‑facing work
- Working toward chartership or keen to progress professionally
