Aspen Court Nursing and Dementia Care Home is a modern, purpose built care home located on the peaceful northern outskirts of Taunton, Somerset. The home provides specialist Nursing, Dementia and Complex Care for up to 42 residents in a safe and supportive environment focused on dignity, wellbeing and person centred care.

Kitchen Assistant

  • £12.21 per hour
  • 40 hours per week
  • Shift times: 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM (30 minute unpaid break)
  • Working 4 days per week
  • Pension, Paid DBS, Uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave based on a full time contract

The Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the kitchen team in preparing meals and maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment. Your role will help ensure residents receive nutritious, well prepared meals that meet their dietary needs while contributing to a positive dining experience.

You will assist with food preparation, help maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, and ensure food safety procedures are followed at all times. You will also help receive and store deliveries, maintain kitchen equipment and support the wider kitchen team to ensure the smooth day to day running of the kitchen.

Working as part of a team, you will help create an organised and hygienic kitchen environment while ensuring meals are prepared and served efficiently to support residents’ wellbeing.

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience working in a kitchen or food preparation role is desirable but not essential
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and food safety practices
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen environment
  • Reliable, hardworking and committed to maintaining high standards
