Aspen Court Nursing and Dementia Care Home is a modern, purpose built care home located on the peaceful northern outskirts of Taunton, Somerset. The home provides specialist Nursing, Dementia and Complex Care for up to 42 residents in a safe and supportive environment focused on dignity, wellbeing and person centred care.

Senior Care Assistant

  • £13.21 per hour
  • Full time and Part time contracts available
  • Day shifts: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (30 minute unpaid break and two 15 minute paid breaks)
  • Night shifts: 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM (1 hour paid break)
  • Alternate weekends required
  • Pension, Paid DBS, Uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave based on a full time contract

The Role
As a Senior Care Assistant, you will play an important leadership role within the home, supporting the care team while ensuring residents receive high quality, person centred care. You will coordinate shifts, guide colleagues, and lead by example to maintain a safe, calm and therapeutic environment.

You will support residents with complex needs including advanced dementia, distressed behaviours and high dependency care. This includes assisting with personal care, mobility, one to one support and promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing at all times.

Working closely with nurses and the wider care team, you will ensure care plans and risk assessments are followed, documentation is completed accurately, and residents’ physical and emotional needs are consistently met. You will also support colleagues during challenging situations, helping maintain a safe and supportive environment for residents and staff.

What We Are Looking For

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care is essential
  • Medication administration training with competency
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to support and guide staff on shift
  • Experience supporting residents with dementia, complex needs and distressed behaviours
  • Reliable, compassionate and confident providing one to one care when required
