Ladybridge High School is a warm, friendly and successful school with a clear mission and agreed beliefs that are shared across the school community. We are focused on achieving strong academic outcomes through a rounded education that prepares our learners for life. We are committed to our ‘Trivium’ approach to education, which is summarised on our website here.

The wonderfully diverse population of learners, the emphasis on professional learning for staff and the friendly atmosphere make Ladybridge an interesting and enjoyable place to work.

Due to the retirement of our current postholder we are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced School Swimming Instructor who has the talent, passion and determination to help us secure the best possible outcomes and experiences for our young people. The post-holder will deliver lessons to our learners across all year groups and also provide sessions as part of our primary swim programme.

The successful candidate will also supervise classes during the short-term absences of the teacher. This may be in a classroom or in the Study Hall. The Study Hall involves supervising multiple classes whilst they complete work online in the case of teacher absence. The role involves communicating the work that has been set by the teacher, keeping learners on task and maintaining high standards of behaviour.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate with:

  • An outgoing and pleasant manner
  • A sound knowledge of the Learn to Swim framework
  • The ability to relate to young people of all ages
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • An understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities
  • An understanding of the national curriculum, school policies and procedures
  • A willingness to drive the school minibus

Requirements for this position are:

  • Level 2 Swim Teacher Qualification
  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
  • A current First Aid Certificate

The application process:

Interested colleagues should complete an application form, and submit, with a letter of application to outline how your experiences to date prepare you for this role.

Please note that CVs and late applications will not be accepted.

Deadline for applications: Monday 30th March 2026 at 8.00am

Shortlisting will take place: Monday 30th March 2026

Interviews will be held: Thursday 2nd April 2026

This is a unique opportunity to transform young people’s lives, and to develop professionally, in a distinctive and rapidly improving school.

Please send completed applications to Miss M Johns, HR & Cover Manager by email to HR@ladybridgehigh.co.uk
